Review of the Telugu/tamil movie DHONI

CAST: Prakash Raj, Akash, Radhika Apte, Naseer, Bhramanandam

Direction : Prakash Raj
Music : Ilyaraja
Producer: Prakash Raj

Prakash Raj who has been a splendid actor becomes  a director in Telugu and Tamil with this film. This film is about the flaws in the education system, which burdens the children and how a father strives for the future of his son.

STORY:  Subbu(Prakash Raj) works as a clerk in a Govt. office. He takes care of his daughter and son Karthik(Akash) after the death of his wife. He runs his house on a tight budget. It is typical middle class family. But he wants to give his children good future and education and joins them in a good school. But his son Kathik is more interested in Cricket then in studies, he joins a coaching camp run by Nasser. One day /subbu gets a phone call from the school and he gets to know from the teachers that his son is not studying for the 10th standard exams and he may be dropped. Knowing this Subbu comes and shouts and scolds his son and in anger slaps him, which results in a injury on the head and the kid slips to Coma.
Later subbu realizes that he had made a mistake, he understands that his son loves cricket and he has the potential to become a good player. Subbu from then wages a war with the education system and the concerned authorities.

ANALYSIS:  Prakash Raj is the heart of the movie, he gets in well to the character of a middle class father and does a splendid work in the role. Akash, son of the director Puri Jagannadh has also performed well in teh role of Karthik. All the other characters were good.

The movie gives you a feeling that your are watching your own story or yours freiend's or neighbour's life on the screen. The story is closely related to this genaration's education system. The first half of  the movie is nice, but in the second half the story is predictable and lacks the intensity.
The back ground score of Ilayaraja is pleasing.

Plus:
  • Prakash Raj
  • Story

Minus:
  • Direction
  • second half

RATING:

Overall its  a good effort by Prakash raj and co. The movie is good and parents should watch this film with their children. We can't expect a change in our bloody disgusted education system with a single movie, but it may change the view of thinking of some parents.

CRICKET ODI team of 2011

There have been many superb performances in the year 2011 in one day international cricket, but the foremost and best of all would be that India has won the ODI World cup after 1983. It was a combined team effort by the Indian team to comprehensively win the world cup on their home ground.
This would be my ODI team of the year

OPENERS: VIERENDAR SEHWAG and SACHIN TENDULKAR

Without any doubt they are the best opening partners in the world today. They are a devastating combination and are nightmares for even the best bowlers, remember the match aginst south Africa in the world cup which India may have lost but south Africa has the worlds top 2 bowlers in their lineup but still they were not able to stop sachin and sehwag, they both nearly scored at a run rate of 10 for the first 20 overs.

No.3 batsmen: HASHIM AMLA
elegant ,classic, attacking these are the apt words which suite Amla. His drives are so elegant and the best in the world. He showed superb consistency in the last two averaging above 50. He is the prolific run scorer for South Africa for the past two years. He even plays superbly, he is an apt person to come at No.3 for any team.

No.4  VIRAT KOHLI/ JONATHAN TROTT
Tough position to bat and you need a batsmen who can bat long and bat through out the innings.Virat kohli has been excellent form for the last one year, he is the run scorer in ODI's in 2011. Trott has also been in superb form, he is the only batsmen for England who has been consistent in ODI's. He is the second leading run scorer in ODI's in 2011. I think both deserve to be played at No.4

No.5 Allrounder  YUVRAJ SINGH
Yuvraj is the golden boy for India. He played a vital role in India winning the world cup.He was excellent both with the bat and the bowl in the world cup. He won four man of the matches in the world cup and he is the man of the tournament of the world cup. He scored 362 runs which includes 4 fifties and one century and he also took 15 wickets in the tournament.

Wicket keeper and captain:  DHONI
No wicket keeper has been so successful for India in the past and at present he is the best ODI captain in the world. He found back his lost form in the World Cup ans since then he has scored a lot of runs.

No.7 Hard Hitter SHAHID AFRIDI:
Afridi off late has perfomed superbly both with his bat and bowl. He has been the highest wicket taker in 2011 world cup. He is aggressive and bowls his heart out. He can be useful with his big hits in the slog overs.

Fast bowler 1  DALE STEYN:
world's best fast bowler. He has the pace, swing ,line and length every thing that a fast bowler needs. He is a born athlete. He is aggressiva and gives more then cent percent on the field and he is an excellent fielder too.

Fast bowler 2 ZAHEER KHAN:
He has been the best fast bowler for India, he single handedly lead the Indian bowling attack in the world cup. He swings the ball both ways, and is very dangerous both with the new ball and old ball.

Fast bowler 3 LASITH MALINGA:
The best yorker specialist and the best depth over bowler at present in the world. He bowls above 140KPH and still gets the yorkers on mark. He is the highest wicket taker in 2011 and will surely be an asset to any team.

Spinner: SAEED AJMAL
He is the best off spinner in ODI's in the world today. He bowls a superb line and length and economy is rate is exceptional. He has been the best bowler for Pakistan in 2011.

Bench players:
SHANE WATSON, SANGAKKARA, MITCHELL JOHNSON, SAKIBUL HASAN
